Mendon is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 6,228 at the 2020 census. Mendon is allocation of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, an early center of the industrial disorder in the United States. Mendon commended its 350th Anniversary on May 15, 2017.

Native Americans inhabited the Mendon Place for thousands of years prior to European colonization of the Americas. At the period of contact, Nipmuc people inhabited the area that would become Mendon, and Nipmuc Pond is named for them. Nipmuc Regional High School was named after this lake. Nipmuc means “small pond place” or “people of the open waters”. The Nipmuc state does not take up to a specific village or tribe, but to natives that inhabited almost everything of central Massachusetts. Over 500 Nipmuc stir today in Massachusetts, and there are two welcoming reservations at Grafton and Webster. The Nipmuc had a written language, tools, a graphite mine at Sturbridge, and well-developed agriculture, including maize (a variant of corn), beans and squash.

In the in front 1600s, Praying Indians (natives who converted to Christianity) were approved into Praying Towns. Wacentug and Rice City held two of these villages in Mendon, in a section that progressive became Uxbridge. These were two of the 14 Praying Indian villages normal by Reverend John Eliot, from Natick and Roxbury, who translated the Bible into the Nipmuc language.
